I have decided to put all the crochet stitches I use here. A one stop directory of crocheted stitches to help you on the way with your projects.....and a reminder for my own!
I hope you find them helpful
First: The humble Granny Square
1: Chain 4 and slip stitch into first chain
2: Chain 5 and treble stitch into centre ring 3 x. Then chain 2.
3 trebles into centre ring, chain 2. twice
2 trb, slip stitch into 3rd of 5ch.
(It should look like picture 2)
3: Slip stitch into ch. sp. and ch. 5
3 trb. ch. 2 into same space
3 trb, 2ch, 3 trb 2 ch. into next 2ch. sp.
( this is your corner)
Repeat 2 x more
this is the bit to get right
Treble 2 into the space below the 5 chain and then slip st. into the 3rd of the 5th ch.
( picture 4 + 5 shows you where to do the 2 treble)
Do not trb into space between 5ch. and the adjacent 3 trb.
This is the basic pattern for the Granny Square. You can continue the round by doing 3 trb 2ch. in spaces in between the corners, remembering to trb 2 into the sp. below the 5 chain when you end the round.
4: Colour change.
Begin with slip stitching the new yarn into the corner ch. sp.
ch. 5, 3trb. 2 ch. into same sp.
3trb, 2 ch. into next 2 ch. sp until next corner.
3trb, 2ch, 3trb., 2ch into corner sp.
3trb. 2ch. into next sp until next corner.
Continue until you wish to end the square.
I hope this makes sense!!
Any mistakes or if pattern difficult to follow I welcome positive feedback
